The Moon in Leo
The Moon crosses Leo in about two and a half days, roughly once a month. This page says what the tradition makes of that position and gives the exact local times of the next six crossings.

In a birth chart
Warm feeling that wants to be seen, and is wounded through pride.
Leo says this position lifts the native into places of responsibility and prominence, and gives authority over others as head, manager or director. It brings the favour of people in higher positions than their own, and no hesitation about coming before the public.
He calls the nature honourable, generous in money matters, high minded, candid and warm hearted, susceptible in affairs of the heart and a sincere lover. He adds a love of luxury, pleasure, perfume, jewels and fine clothes, and a gift for music, poetry or painting.
The doctrine of dignities, standard in Western astrology since the Hellenistic period
Where the tradition places it
The tradition gives the Moon no special strength or weakness here.
There are only four signs where the Moon has a formal dignity. It rules Cancer, is exalted in Taurus, is in detriment in Capricorn and is in fall in Scorpio. In the other eight, including this one, the tradition treats it as a guest that takes the colour of the house it is standing in.
So the reading of these days comes from the sign itself rather than from the Moon's standing in it, which is what the section below sets out.
The doctrine of the elements and the modes, and habit built on top of it
What these days are used for
Being seen, and being generous.
- FireOutwardFire moves outward. The tradition gives these days to starting things, to saying them out loud, and to spending energy rather than saving it.
- FixedHoldingA fixed sign sits in the middle of a season, so the days are read as holding: the impulse is to keep what is already there.
The tradition gives these days to performance, to children and to anything done in front of other people, and reads slights taken now as remembered longer than they deserve.
This is tradition and habit, not a measured effect. It is here because it is what the sources say, and each part carries the name of the source it came from.

Questions people ask
How long is the Moon in Leo?
About two and a half days each month. The exact length changes a little because the Moon's speed changes, and the table above gives the real figure for each crossing.
Is a Leo Moon the same as being a Leo?
No. A Leo Sun means the Sun was in Leo at your birth, which is late July to late August. A Leo Moon can happen in any month of the year.
Does the Moon sign depend on where I was born?
The sign itself is the same everywhere at the same moment, because it is measured from the centre of the Earth. What changes with your place is the local clock time it starts and ends, which is exactly what decides your sign if you were born near a crossing.
Positions and times are calculated in your browser with an open astronomy library and match published ephemerides to the minute. The birth chart reading is written from Alan Leo, Astrology for All, 1899, which is in the public domain. The dignities and the doctrine of the elements are standard traditional astrology. Tradition is labelled as tradition throughout, and the sources page sets out what is calculated and what is not.
