What Globa says
Raw physical energy surfacing, with instructions to master it.
The short list gives a bear. The book gives a mountain, a volcano, a cave, a phallus, Hephaestus and the Cyclopes, all of them underground fire on its way up. The day is read as an awakening of raw physical and sexual energy, with the instruction to subdue your own physical nature rather than spend it. It is good for conception and for healing, and it is one of the days on which you may lay the foundation of a house or a temple.
Globa attaches a punitive note that stands out from everything around it: rapists and sadists are prosecuted on this day. The practical layer keeps the same register, recommending heavy strength training and warning against setting out on a journey.

Where the sources disagree
Four author lines stand behind the lunar days and they are not one tradition. They run left to right in the order they were written, oldest first, and each one carries its date. This site names which line it is quoting every time.

Neutral, and a child who loves a feast
Neither bad nor good. Illnesses are not dangerous, dreams are invalid, and the children born today are good people and lovers of feasts.
The medieval lunary carried under his name. The attribution is traditional and not proven.
Sergei Vronsky
1915 to 1998
Neutral. Continue, do not start.
Vronsky calls it impersonal and neutral and says continue rather than start. Illnesses are not dangerous and pass without consequence, dreams are invalid, and the child may be honest and kind on one side and selfish, greedy and envious on the other, but in every case a great gourmand.

Pavel Globa

Alexander Zaraev

Last quarter, unfavourable, moods swing
Zaraev has the last quarter here and calls it unfavourable: mood swings, transformations in your circle, and relations with partners and lovers at risk. He says only honest and spiritually developed people gain anything from it.
His circulating texts carry no symbols and are pegged to the phase aspects instead.
Globa fills the day with volcanoes, Cyclopes and prosecutions. Albertus and Vronsky both shrug and describe a child who likes his dinner. The gourmand child runs unchanged from the older text into the newer one.

How old is this
Old in part, and much younger than it is said to be.
Books of lunar days circulated in Europe from the twelfth century, and the Albertus and Vronsky lines sit in that tradition. The thirty symbols in their present form, and the satanic days, are a twentieth century Russian arrangement presented as ancient Persian. That claim is asserted and not documented.

How the day is counted
Lunar days are not equal, and they do not begin at midnight.
The first runs from the exact moment of the new Moon to the next moonrise where you are, and is usually short. Every day after that runs from one moonrise to the next, about twenty four hours and fifty minutes. A lunation holds twenty nine or thirty of them.
Because moonrise depends on where you stand, the lunar day is the one figure on this site that genuinely differs between two cities on the same evening.
