What Globa says
What the world shows you today is held to be a reflection of you.
The short table gives a mirror. The book widens it to ice, snow, crystal and a monkey, and the popular versions add an asp. The work is internal: go after your own bad thoughts, drop vanity and egotism. The physical instructions are cleansing ones, baths, the intestine, the skin, massage. Wine, smoking, oversleeping and meat are out, and nuts and plenty of vegetable oil are in.
The monkey and the asp show where the popular layer took the day. Pankratov goes further than Globa and calls it a day of intrigue, fraud and deceit, good for starting a journey and bad for marriage, and one English site names it the day of masks and tricks. Globa himself says nothing at all about travel.

Where the sources disagree
Four author lines stand behind the lunar days and they are not one tradition. They run left to right in the order they were written, oldest first, and each one carries its date. This site names which line it is quoting every time.

Fairly lucky, and a rich child
Fairly lucky. Dreams come true, and children born today are hard working and destined to get rich.
The medieval lunary carried under his name. The attribution is traditional and not proven.
Sergei Vronsky
1915 to 1998
Lucky, but only if handled carefully
Vronsky says the day can be happy and lucky but demands prudence, restraint and caution. The child is hard working and capable, and prosperity or even wealth is waiting. The sick may lie ill a long time without recovering, though not fatally, and dreams often come true.

Alexander Zaraev
Born 1954
Disharmonious early, renegotiate later
Zaraev's first half is disharmonious, with aggression and problems appearing out of nowhere and vanity repelling partners. The second half is better, and he says the problems get solved by renegotiating them.
His circulating texts carry no symbols and are pegged to the phase aspects instead.
Globa's mirror is for looking at yourself. The Pankratov layer turns the same day into intrigue, fraud and deceit aimed at other people, and sends you off on a journey Globa never mentions.

How old is this
Old in part, and much younger than it is said to be.
Books of lunar days circulated in Europe from the twelfth century, and the Albertus and Vronsky lines sit in that tradition. The thirty symbols in their present form, and the satanic days, are a twentieth century Russian arrangement presented as ancient Persian. That claim is asserted and not documented.

How the day is counted
Lunar days are not equal, and they do not begin at midnight.
The first runs from the exact moment of the new Moon to the next moonrise where you are, and is usually short. Every day after that runs from one moonrise to the next, about twenty four hours and fifty minutes. A lunation holds twenty nine or thirty of them.
Because moonrise depends on where you stand, the lunar day is the one figure on this site that genuinely differs between two cities on the same evening.
